Guest TurboSedan

i installed my LIM today (again). this next week i'll be buying new injector O-rings then replacing the fuel rail/injectors & sub-harness and plenum/TB, then i'll be replacing the valve cover gaskets and exhaust manifold gaskets. hopefully i can afford the oil pump and timing cover/oil pan gasket set within the next two weeks or so and i'll finally be able to pull it off the engine stand, replace the rear main seal, install the new clutch & slip the Getrag on...then drop 'er in the car (i still gotta powerwash the engine bay though).

First off I need to clean off the coat of winter salt and mud. My poor white car has long since ceased to be white. That said:

1. Paint the new front calipers grey to match the rears. They came with what I thought was a coat of paint straight from NAPA, but this appears to have been nothing but a clever ruse since the calipers rusted up faster than I thought was even possible. Meanwhile the rears which I did paint gray look fantastic.

2. Get a paint job. Not a full one mind you, but just the hood and decklid. The current plan is to get early 70's style 442 stripes in firefrost gold. I may also steal a page from the concept Intrigue 442 and do a gold line between the ribbing and ding guard on the cars side and up over the wheel well archs ending just before each bumper in an Olds logo. Your opinion?

3. Find out why my damn car is getting crappy gas mileage all of a sudden. I'm only getting 280 on a tank as opposed to the normal 320-330. Seeing as my tranny is also shifting funky on the 1-2 shift I'm starting to wonder if the vacuum line has come loose from the modulator. Too lazy to check since is -8*F though.

I'd also like to consider doing a manual transplant or an L67 since this is going to become my second car later this summer. We'll see.

I have one from a 94 sitting around....only downside is it doesn't have knobs....If you want it, I'll give it to you for the cost of shipping. I haven't tested it, but seeing as how everything else I pulled from that car was in great shape, I can't see why it wouldn't be.

I have a 5 speed, so I can't exactly leave it in park. I know if I install the remote start now I'll never fix my ebrake, so I'd better just do it right so I don't run into anything.
