Brian P
noticed a small external coolant leak either coming from my rear head, or lower intake gasket. So intake job- it is! If I'm going that far, may as well do the head gaskets, may as well install the roller 3400 heads I've had laying around for centuries. Since the heads are just sitting there, may as well put better valve springs in, may as well use head gaskets from the iron headed 3.1, may as well reinstall with the 3400 manifolds I've had sitting around for centuries. HAH!! be back later!

Robby1870
Nice. 'Least you'll get something out of it and get rid of some random parts! If you aint got a need for those 3100 heads and LIM, I might
Guest TurboSedan
woo-hoo i'm doing the lower intake gasket on my 3.1 MPFI today too! i would have done it last week but it was like 4 degrees outside and i was worried the RTV wouldn't set right at that low temperature (my garage is unheated :? ) i installed my newly rebuilt TGP heads last week....i'm slowly making progress. Robby1870
Easy work! Whats so great about head gaskets from an iron head? They are .020 thinner when installed (.060 Al, .040 Fe), so you'll get a small bump in CR
Brian P
yeah, minor CR bump, probably nothing, but it won't "hurt" just gotta make sure not to overheat the damn thing. I wanted to do the exhaust first, but plans changed. If I start in the afternoon, have a long dinner, should be done by the evening. Just don't want to drive it MUCH, the intake gaskets are now time bombs, lol. If I had seen the coolant leak earlier, I wouldnt have done a M1 oil change today, but whatever. I have to remove the starter to torque 2 oil pan bolts (only 2 I couldnt get to) all those bastards were loose and I had a nice leak going. Oh important- anyone know if '94-95 stamped steel rocker'd 3100's have the same pushrods as roller rocker'd 3x00? Stealing my sister's sedan for the rest of the week. Try not to follow the trail of fallen parts.

I'd imagine so... otherwise it'd have caused some problems when I did the intake swap on my car.
