Can some explain the code stuff to me?

Ok i got the part on gettin the code with the check engine light and when i do it the fans turn on and i keep gettin code 12? and i looked it up on here on the main page and im just confused can anyone explain the code thing like how long they will flash and if there is a promblem that i keep gettin code 12 over and over again

Code 12 means your in diagnostic mode.

it will flash 12,12,12 then it will flash your error code

so 12,12,12,32,32,32,12,12,12,13,13,13,12,12,12

that would be an error 32 and an error 13

It doesn't flash the code 12 after every code stored. It only flashes it at the beginning and the end of all codes. For example, if a code 32 and 13 were stored:

12, 12, 12

13, 13, 13

32, 32, 32

12, 12, 12

 

It lists the codes in sequential order, so a 13 would flash before a 32.

 

The cooling fans are supposed to run when you jumper terminals A and B on the ALDL (thus entering "diagnostic" mode.)
