stockgp
just how much does a 4t60e hold. i can never seem to get an accurate reading off my dipstick. there's always oil up the side of th damn stick no matter what i do. and yes i tried the search function, but got a few hundred results. maybe my brain is just misfiring because i was up most of the night, but i don't have the patience right now to keep trying. thanks in advance
Stealth
umm it says in the manual, but its about 6.8 litres on a pan drop and 11 or 12 on a full drain
Brian P
you're checking it with the tranny "warm" and engine running, right?

WhiteOut
NAPA told me to buy 7 quarts when I did the filter, they lied. Every 4T60 I've ever done a fluid change on (I've done it 4 times now) has required around 8-9 quarts of tranny fluid for a simple pan drop and filter change. I think the total capacity of the system is somewhere around 16 quarts.
stockgp
damn. i figured it would be more like 6 quarts
WhiteMonteZZZ
Sorry to drag this up, but we were discussing something similar over at MyMonte: http://www.mymonte.com/shwmessage.aspx?ForumID=19&MessageID=210093
Canada
What do you mean you can't get an accurate reading? Automatic transmissions really don't seem to follow the capacities very well......just get it inbetween the hash marks.
