SmokesGTP
That hood spoiler is the gayest thing I think i have EVER seen on a car. Might as well of put on sign on the window that says I like men. Other than that it is one nice ride.

gmrulz4u
Why hasn't ANYONE talked responded to my post below about the 89 Cutlass...that one is AWSOME! Go LOOK!!!!
Redfox340
Wow, did anybody read his engine mod list? - "Removed PCV and EGR system" (ummm... care to explain?) - removed fog light assemblies (are you kidding, I LOVE those on my car) But I agree with 90TGP, I like the lower valence he made with cleaning up the front fasica. I catch a glimpse of some other Cutlass's and it looks like they bottomed out and ripped off some the body work... like on most Grand AM owners.... Everyone got to do something different. What's that hood spoiler supposed to do? Increase drag co-efficents? - RedFox340
gmrulz4u
Seeing as you guys are probably curious to know more, I figured I'd copy and paste some of the e-mails we exhanged... Sorry if this is LOOOOOOOOOOOONNNG! _____________________________________________________________ Hey, I expected more questions! Its allright, just joking. 1. The PCV (positive crankshaft ventilation)system is made for emmition controls and takes filtered air from a small hose after the filter, circulates it through the engine and sucks it into the intake, taking some oil with it(especialy when your PCV valve is old). This is the exaust gas that slips through the piston rings and goes into the crankcase.Well, any engine would prefer to breathe clean cold air instead of CO2 and oil... The EGR(exaust gas recirculation)has a electromagnetic valve which brings exaust (from the exaust manifold) back to the intake,it is HOT dirty air that also helpes the smitions of the car.I plugged the manifold and on the end of the hose I put small air filter so when my EGR valve opens, it takes LOTS of cold filtered air. These two steps are must to do if you want better performance and longer life of your engine, of course it is street illegal...Oh, the service light never comes on. 2. the oil cap-since I have plugged the intake so it doesnt take the PCV gas anymore, I need to have a way for this gas to leave the engine, that is why I removed the stock oil cap and I put a B&M breather filter to close the hole.It does need to be washed once in a while(collects oil) but does great job. 3. the fans-I simply put two extra relays AFTER the stock ones(underhood electrical center, pass. side) with two switches ,which work only when the engine does(so I dont acidentaly drain the battery). This way I can turn both fans on in hot days and keep my engine cool while having the air conditioning running. The stock setting for engaging the fans if way higher than what it should be. 4. the tank-I moved the battery to the trunk and removed the tank, cause it was on top of it.I am clearing space for the turbocharger I am planning to add. 5.the power inverter is inside my center console, underneath the radio and it has two outlets on the side of it. 6.the seat-these cars dont have lots of leg room on the front seats.I like to drive with my legs straight and I got two pieces of metal, took the drivers seat out and measured the distance between the holes, than I simply put 4 holes into each bracket and that is how I moved the seat(see the picture) 7. It is actually imported from Swiss and it has a blinking light and monitores the vacuum in the engine,so when the engine starts you can press it again and nothing happens. 8. I moved the battery to get some space under the hood,to get better weight balance and to put it closer to the amplifier. The capacitor is ridht on top of it. The alternator is stock (105 amps) and it is the third I've bought allready. For some reason these are not reliable. It is not the system that blew it,the first one burned when my car was still stock. 9. When I put the subwoofer box under the rear deck the original springs that lift the trunk lid had to go,so I put two lift cilinders to have my trunk open slowly when I hit the remote control switch. About the engine-normaly aspirated 3.8 series II engine has 200HP and lots of weight. The Turbocharged 3.1L from the TGP had 205HP back then, with the stock Garret turbocharger. These days they have many aftermarket parts that can push it (my estimate) up to 300-330HP, especialy if you have the upgraded version of the 3.1(from Malibu, for example). All you need is lower compression pistons from TRW,Total Seal piston rings,5 angle valve job, agressive cam and head gaskets and the turbo itself. After all that-good dyno test and have the PCM reprogrammed. Also better MAP sensor, one thet can register both vacuum and boost.Bye for now. _____________________________________________________________ Those are the stock taillights of my car and since I cannot buy clear or Alteza style taillights, I decided to make my own. Basicaly you can find all kinds of reflectors in the auto parts stores, than all you need is to drill holes that are little smaller than the reflector, remove the backing tape from it and attach it with couple stainless steel bolts.First I tried without making holes in the lenses but the light wasn't enough. As a last step I sprayed the lenses with see-through paint and that was it.Took me total of 4 hours for both sides and I saved myself about $200.I think that using one small circle on the top and one big on the bottom will look way better than what I have. There is my most recent picture, sorry for the low quality. _____________________________________________________________ The spoiler on the hood of my car came from the junkyard and it was on the rear window of a GMC Jimmy, I think 1990. However, I had to make my own brackets. The front lip is from Chevy Astro van, I had to cut it in the middle and put aluminum bracket behind it to stiffen it.The grill costs about a buck-this one I found in Home Depot.I hate to spend money for something I can easily make myself and that is how I saved a lot and still reached my goals. I live in Portland,Maine where I moved from Europe 3 years ago. I don't realy like the place but I need to graduate in college before I move somewhere else.I bought the car two years ago and I am happy with it.I actually have two other cars like it- a maroon 1990 and Gold metalic 1997.Those are bone-stock.I am sending you more pictures(which are taken in the beginning of this summer) and a .DOC file with the upgrades.Mitko. _____________________________________________________________ I am sending you the .txt file this time. About the pictures- I have a bra and headlight covers but on the picture with the bra I didn't have the side markers painted. Yeah, all 3 cars are Cutlass Supreme's .My mother is driving the '97-they kinda decreased the quality for the last year of production. I am realy thinking about getting a turbo from Grand Prix and have my PCM reprogrammed. Also a Getrag manual gearbox will fit nice on it. It is allways easier to drop a 3.8Supercharged in it, but it is too heavy and slow. About the taillights- if you use athesive reflectors and paint the rest of the taillight in daytime you will lose all of the light from it.I tried just attaching the reflector on the taillight but it still wasn't enough light so I ended up removing lot of plastic(see the picture) from the taillights.Hey, if you have any other questions don't hasitate to ask,I'll be happy to help you out, if I can. _____________________________________________________________ Hi, Jeff Igot some time to write to you today. About the battery- I know its dangerous to keep acid battery in the trunk, but I never nad any problems with it.I am getting the sealed Optima battery next spring.I go to school in the late afternoon and I have my own custom shop in Portland. It is nothing big-there are not many poeple around here that like high-performance stuff.I am going to close it soon.I am actualy saving money for a small dealership, where I want to sell only sports cars(future plans). For the exaust- If I get turbocharger I will run 3" pipe all the way to the mufflers(I'll make it dual exaust) and for now I only have muffler(which I bought from JC Whitney for $75).OK,the struts are actualy noly cartgidges-after you open the original strut and remove the internal components,it slides right inside. The only thing included is the cap that closes it from the top.The strut bearing on these cars are only sliders-not roller bearings.I have a catalog for all kinds of bearins and I will soon figure out which axial bearing will fit with minnimum tayloring. These KYB struts are actualy rated for 12000 miles and mine are allready getting sooooft.Too bad KONI discontinued the adjustable struts for these cars.I have called the official distributor, but they told me that to continue the production the factory in Sweden need an order of at least 100 pieces.Otherwise, the adjustable struts are GOOD,I ve spoken to people that still have them.If I had the money,I would order 100 pieces, because I know that I can sell them, but its going to be long time for that.My advice is get chear struts with lifetime waranty and replace them once a year.I got all four struts for $220,local parts store came up with $65 a pop for the front, but with lifetime waranty.By the way-I didn't list the rear cross-drilled rotors in the upgrade list cause they are noisy pieces of s--t!I will get rid of them soon,I got slotted rotors for the front, but they are still on my 1990 olds.I kinda like the old car better-I have done 125mph on level road with 4 people in it,the new ones have nasty speed governor that cuts them off at 105mph.Steve Cromer(with Grand Prix 3.4)did over 150mph...OK,gotta go. Mitko P.S.There is my car when it was still stock,it has home-made headlight covers. _____________________________________________________________

toastemcutlass
most of the car is ok but the hood spoiler of course sucks and the huge ass exhaust sucks ass and of course my favorite Removed PCV and EGR system what the fuck I do stupid things but i'm confused why the hell you would do that. If you don't have a turbo then why would you do that, and the black painted turn signal interesting but no corner turnsignal?

toastemcutlass
what is this "red head" talking about under engine removed washer fluid tank & pump huh? When explaining the things done, talking about the engineAbout the engine-normaly aspirated 3.8 series II engine has 200HP and lots of weight. Also better MAP sensor, one thet can register both vacuum and boost.Bye for now. what thats all you have to do to get 300+hp wow thats nothing at all He keeps switching from things he has to things he wishes he had, strange guy, must be the red sinking in.

GnatGoSplat
I was just thinking... how did he do the front airdam and extending the bottoms of the bumpers like he mentioned? I wonder if the thing is symmetrical... or if those pieces may eventually show cracks or seams. I do really like the airdam.
patgizz
ooohhhhh, now we have "Shawn, the Insult Comedy Admin" my guess - fiberglass. problem i see is fiberglass is hard, urethane(what the stock bumper is made from) is soft, they expand and contract as different rates, as well as flex differently, so if he did that there will be cracks on the seams, like when ya put a glass scoop on a steel hood. i give him a break on the overuse of red, he is from europe. GnatGoSplat
When I read his mods and his emails in more detail, I've come to realize this guy is a real nutjob (his fashion sense notwithstanding). Removed his foglights because they're out of "stile"? WTF? And large empty gaping holes are IN "stile"? If foglights were out of style, why do all new cars have them, and why do people still add them to cars that didn't come with them? I also noticed his wheels are different sizes It's FWD for goodness sakes! Also, I don't understand the flipping the strut mounts upside-down bit. That doesn't seem safe in the least. Not to mention 7" of lowering? I call BS on that one. If it was lowered 7", it'd be shooting sparks. There's a lot of other kooky stuff he did (besides the wing on the hood). I'm thinking this is one car that looks good from a distance or in pics, but up close you would probably find all kinds of stuff wrong with it and a lot of the body work would probably look clearly hand-made.
