wbody1973
I got the 5 speed out of the parts car, and also removed the center console, shifter, and cables. Now i need to remove the pedels, and master cylinder, etc... Can you remove just the brake pedal and the clutch pedal, or do you have to cut the brake pedal like some people do on my automatic car. Justin
I've not done the swap, but the way I understand it you want the whole plate that all that stuff attaches to. There's a seperate section of firewall for the pedals I think.

Guest TurboSedan
you don't necessarily have to swap the firewall plate. i didn't and it worked out great....i did the 5-speed swap in the fall of '01 and about 70,000 miles ago and i have had no problems at all. i've heard it's a real pain in the arse to remove that firewall plate so it seems to me it's not worth the effort. removing the pedals is a BITCH. i would suggest removing the driver's seat, and then lay on your back with your head crammed up under the dash with a flourescent tube light seriously though that's what i had to do. the cluch pedal wasn't so bad but swapping the brake pedal was a real PITA. alternatively you could simply cut your existing brake pedal shorter. if i had known the brake pedal was that hard to remove in the first place i would have just cut the existing brake pedal instead. wbody1973
yeah, i'll prolly jut cut the brake pedal as long as you can remove jut the clutch pedal. I have to remove the seat from my car anyways so i can rip the carpet up to install the cables, and te shifter. I don't wanna have cut all over my carpet. it's going from a 92 z-34 into a 92 euro 3.4 I got charcoal leather, and charcoal carpet.
