rshissler Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 The oil light comes on when ever i slow down to under 15 mph or im at a complete stop. The light flickers really fast or some times just stays on untill i give it throttle. the oil is up to the line or maybe even over a bit and i have just changed the oil and filter. Anyone know? Quote

DOHCRagtopguy Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 I would go to where the oil pressure switch is, usually by the filter, and unscrew the switch and attach a guage to verify the oil pressure. If your oil pump is on its way out, you'll know this way. Good luck, Merry Christmas. Quote
WhiteOut Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 It could be the sending unit, but I would guess that the light is acting correctly based on what you've said. And in that case you're engine is worn out to the point of needing a rebuild or your oil pump is going. Either way its not going to be cheap or fun. Quote
maybe2fast Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 I would bet money it is a faulty sending unit, they are cheap and easy to replace. try that, it will most likely fix it Don Quote
GPdriver1986 Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 how many miles on the car? Quote
Dannymik Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 my'88 Regal with the 2.8 did the same exact thing with that damn flickering oil light...just like Whiteout and Maybe2fast, its the sending unit! Quote
93CutlassSupreme Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 an oil pump will last the life of the car usually Quote
