Psych0matt
Ok, so here's my dilemma. I've got all the belts off and I'm in the process of replacing the pulleys and such (one which broke causing the problem) and the idler pulleys take a torx T-50 bit. My problem is that no matter what I've tried I cannot get this bolt loose. I've used both hands, my dad has tried, used the air compressor with the power wrench (not the impact one because it won't fit) and it just will not come loose. I've bent up the brand new torx bit (the hardened steel kind, not the cheap chrome kind) just trying to break this thing loose and still nothing. I'm stumped and the car sits in the garage til I can get this thing loose to replace the pulleys. anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions? 5speedz34
Maybe try putting some PB Blaster on it first? Maybe heat it up?
Heza
id get another torx bit and get some leverage on it. get the socket wrench in the and put a nice long extension off the wrench. metal pipe or what not. leverage works wonders sometime! its what i had to do to get my serpentine belt off my 3.4 when i swapped pulleys. Psych0matt
yeah, none of the torx bits held up. for one of the pulleys we pounded a socket over top of it and finally got it loose, and the other we tried the same thing but didnt have the room, so ended up using an allen wrench and the handle from the jack for a breaker bar. to make a long story short, that weren't no 15 ft lbs like the dealer secretary said Right now I have the new ones on and tomorrow its just a matter of timing everything and putting it back together. Ill let ya guys know how it goes
