Try it. You won't hurt anything. :D It will work but you may have issues such as EGR idle and fuel delivery.

I was told they are basically the same. BUT after driving my GP with a 3.1 with a 2.8 chip I would have to disagree. I had a little rough idle and not so good gas mileage. Put a 3.1 chip in and everything straightened out.

Use the chip made for the car, period. Using a 3.1 chip in a 2.8, given the same EGR and code mask, speedo code, etc, will not give you more power or better drivability. Sure, some chips will swap between them and run the car but its not going to be optimal (as far as optimal from GM is concerned).

Thats just reflecting the same part number for the computer/chip... Not the programing.

BUT!, I have to say that they are probably the same programing cause the 2.8 & 3.1 are really the same engine. Same injectors, same timing ect...

If you do feel any difference.... your probably just your imagination.

They aren't the same programming. The fueling is different and so is the spark table, and the PE fueling. Nope, not the same at all.

There... I learned somthn'

Good info Vege.... 8)
