Prospeeder Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Ok, i Shaved my badges, and it looks ALOT nicer, much smoother and better looking, and it automaticly turns it into a sleeper, all u do it take a hair dryer, heat the badge, and take a plastic NOT METAL paint scraper and jut gently with ur hand hammer it till it breaks through this black tar goo, and then it comes off, just use the plastic paint scraper and the hair dryer to get the rest of the gunk off, then buff off the reidue with a rag and WD/40, and ur done! u can also use Steel Wool to get the badges lookin good again, dont over scrub them, or they will turn Silver, wich is good if u have silver wheels, but i couldnt find anything so i thought id post this. ( Sorry if they dont show up, Cardomain has been wierd lately go to http://www.cardomain.com/id/prospeeder for pics, they come on off and on, its wierd) Quote
EurosportZ34 Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 looks damn GOOD...i'm going to do that to my Blazer one of these days. maybe you got put the "TGP" emblem somewhere inside the car, i thought of doing that. Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 23, 2004 Author Report Posted December 23, 2004 im actually gonna do that, mabye on the dash, or when they put my CD player in, it will have the Black emptiness bellow it, ill put it there,i just like it too much without the badges Quote
93CutlassSupreme Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 i use a length of fishing line to cut through the glue behind the badge, instead of taking a hairdryer/heat gun that close to your paint. Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 23, 2004 Author Report Posted December 23, 2004 i tried Fishing line, 10 pound strength, snapped right in half, 15 year old glue and being like 50 degrees sucks, and the reason i took them off is i was buffing my car, and i went over the badge and it came off, so i took them all off to clean, and decided i liked it with out them, and i notices one of the badges paint was chipping, so im glad i did it Quote

Prospeeder Posted December 23, 2004 Author Report Posted December 23, 2004 Lowerd?? u serious? iv herd they rub with these cars Quote
mfewtrail Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Lowerd?? u serious? iv herd they rub with these cars Never had any rubbing issues at stock height w/ my TGP. Lowering wouldn't help the front valence height any , you'd be limited to nearly flat driveways afterwards to keep from tearing it off(as many have done w/ their stock height TGP's). Quote
LukeZ34 Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I used a combo of heat and fishing line to remove mine. Worked fine, but the tape holding them on was probably only 3 or 4 years old probably. Quote
Prospeeder Posted December 24, 2004 Author Report Posted December 24, 2004 yea.... i still need a valence, but when i said they rub, i ment if u lower them they rub, The paint scraper worked and it didnt ruin my paint at all so im happy Quote
jeremy Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 yea.... i still need a valence yeah.....home come none of the TGP seem to have the lower piece in tact??? Quote
TGPilot Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 yea.... i still need a valence yeah.....home come none of the TGP seem to have the lower piece in tact??? Well considering they are only a few inches off the ground and most curbs and bump stops are 5-6" + tall...you do the math. Quote
jeremy Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 Well considering they are only a few inches off the ground and most curbs and bump stops are 5-6" + tall...you do the math. I just can't imagine ripping off a piece of my car and not doing anything about it... Quote
LukeZ34 Posted January 4, 2005 Report Posted January 4, 2005 The part itself costs $120, and then it has to be painted. Plus the mounting tabs and pieces are usually destroyed as well, so those have to be replaced. Most front bumpers are damaged/warped enough already that even a new one doesn't look very good. Big price to pay for such a little piece, for some of us at least. Quote
Prospeeder Posted January 4, 2005 Author Report Posted January 4, 2005 Yea, 70 year old woman + Low Valence + Curb = Snapped off Valence, but hwo come u never replace it, i see Damage this old lady made, and she never fixed it, nothing big, but when u hit some1, u usualy get it fixed, am i right, the woman bought this thing Brank New in 1990 Quote
