rshissler
Witch of the followin do u guys think would add the most HP to a 2.8. A shorty intake inside the engine bay, a wheel well intake, or a intake that im gonna make to go through the old intake spot but turn and go to the grill? KING JOKER
i agree the fenderwell is the best place but dont expect much hp for a cia its kinda like the dead horse that everyone beats. cia is ok but i would just go with a high flow filter and gut the airbox
FastSE2DR
its a CAI not a cia by the way...but isnt the airbox designed for maximum torque and adding an intake lowers torque? i know it does on the 3100
rshissler
well i would cut everything out of the air box but the air box isn;t even a box in my car its a round metal cylinder and it bring air in right behind the head light witch i know that hardly any air or as much air that it would get any other place. i'll paste pics later when my girl gives my camara back if u wanna see it. Donot know about the torque thing anyone else know?
EurosportZ34
Which of the following do you guys think would add the most horsepower to a 2.8L V6 ( <--your grammar) to answer your question...an engine swap seriously
Carotop
Yea I would think a engine swap would be the only way to gain power. I haven't seen much if anything for a 2.
Aaron
CAI is best, and coming from first hand experience it helped a lot, but this is also on a 3.4L TDC which is pulling in a lo tmroe air. My setup:
89oldscutlass
I changed to the cai on my cutty that has the 2.8 and it does loose torque like hell but you do gain hp which you can tell on the highway not much mind you but just a little. As far as swapping engines save your money and wait for the 2.8 to go boom before considering swaps. If you go with the swap I would go with the 3400. They have around 180hp and they are dependable engines not to mention they are a easy swap out. You can use your computer and wiring but you have to use your injectors from your 2.8. Now by doing so you loose some hp that can be made up by a good performance chip and being able to loose your catalitic converter. Sorry for the spelling. SigEpCutlass
just get a high flow air filter for the stock air box...it's not worth losing that torque. It's not worth your money to do otherwise.
BIGBULS
Anybody who designs an ACTUAL COLD air intake (fenderwell, or sucking off the ground), will NOT lose any torque. So often I see people who claim to have a CAI, and just have a short little WAI getting air 4 inches from the hot ass crossover pipe..................duh you are going to lose torque if you are sucking hot air. I still don't understand what moron keeps perpetuating the myth that a W-Body is unlike ALL other cars and will somehow magically LOSE torque/power from a CAI............ Aaron
I was going to say, I noticed no dip in power from my CAI upon installation. However most of the power incresae were midrange and high end, it did not lose any down low.
