Bossman429 Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 I just installed my 160 degree Hypertech thermostat, I didn't want to buy one from them, but after searching around town Autozone was the only place to get a 160 stat. Anywho, after letting it warm up I drove it around town. The first time I romped on it, the car started to slow, as if reaching a governor, or a fuel cutoff at the 5000 RPM range in 1st gear. Once I let off the throttle a little it shifted to 2nd, and pulled hard again til 5 grand. Is this the over boost fuel cutoff? Does every stock chipped TGP do this? and finally, does Jeff's Top Gun chip solve this problem. I thought it was odd, because it has never cut off like that for the 3 weeks I've had the car til tonight after I installed the stat. I'm sure their un related though. Any help or advice appreciated EDIT: Well, I'm stupid! I was thinking about why a stat would change anything. I decided to go take a second look at the car to make sure all was well. Turns out when I did the stat, I loosened the clamps on the Intercooler to T/B pipe, when I reinstalled it, I didn't tighten the clamp on the T/B, the boost must have been escaping from there at WOT. I drove it after tightening the clamp, and all is back to normal! Lesson to learn: Don't rush through things! It'll end up coming back to haunt you. Quote
90TGP Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 Check all of your vacuum hoses. You might have accidently knocked one loose, or one is bad. Check all lines going to and from the turbo. Quote
