rshissler
Anyone know if they made a 88 regal 2.8 with a manual trans?
maybe2fast
you can put a Getrag 282 in that car, it mates with the 2.8, 3.1 and others

Thats true, they easily do swap in. But there is no console for the regals that fit a manual shifter. You would have to try and make one. Or swap an interior from a different W. rshissler
yes i realized that im probable gonna get a consol from a GS and driver seat cuz the seat in my car is connected to the arm rest in the center so its bigger then the other seat and i hate it. If you ever convert a GS console to accept a stick, post up some pics. I'd be curious to see what it looks like. No regals ever came with manuals. Plus, the regal interior is way different than any other 1st gen W

I'm sure so long as you can get to the proper mounting spots, for the shifter, cables, etc. That you'll be fine.
Guest TurboSedan
i used to have a bench seat with column shift before i swapped a Getrag 282 into my Cutlass. right now i'm using leather buckets seats from a '90 Cutlass Supreme International, along with a center console from an '89 Grand Prix and a steering column from a floor shift '93 Lumina. everything was 100% bolt-in. the swap is very easy IMO. the only thing that isn't bolt-in about the manual transmission swap is the one hole you need to drill in the firewall for the shifter cables. the hardest part about the swap is actually finding a Getrag 282 and all of the other parts you need such as axles, clutch master & slave cylinders, clutch pedal, cables, shifter etc... Guest TurboSedan
What cars did they come in? as far as W-bodies go, the Getrag 282 can be found in the '88-'90 Grand Prix & Cutlass with the 2.8 or 3.1, and i think the '90 Lumina as well. HO Quad-4 W-bodies also got a Getrag 282 but it has a different bellhousing and different gearing.

If you ever find a GS that has the Four Seater package, you should swap the interiors. Then it would be like mine.

Cutlasses got almost the exact same console, and something else.. door panels maybe (I might be thinking of just the window switches, they looked very similar in shape). Only difference on the consoles was the color/design on the actual shifter bezel, but I'm pretty sure if would fall right into the Regal's console. 5speedz34
I would figure that the consoles would all bolt up into any W, any console.
