R Dubya
My brother's '98 GTP is creating quite a bit of noise from the top of the motor, we are almost positive that it is the bearing assembly in the snout of the supercharger. Can anyone confirm that this is a common problem and possibly have tips on where to get them? Is this a hard job given that you need a puller to get the pulley off? Any help is greatly appreciated! R Dubya
Ok nevermind. We're going with ZZP rebuilt snout, 3.4 pulley and oversized tensioner. Should give a noticeable HP increase and shouldn't be too big of a job. Thanks anyways.
maybe2fast
let us know how big of a difference it makes
dbtk2
The new snout isn't gonna give any gains, its just gonna quiet down the blower. The pulley should add around 20hp/50ft.lbs. Shawn

R Dubya
The guy at ZZP said there was nothing needed for it when I called, then we called again and said we needed a U-bend and a few other supporting mods.. decided against them. Went with the 3.5 pulley, new tensioner, coupler and thermostat. Also will be changing the SC oil (obvious).
sl3196
The usual mods needed are: Intake, u-bend, 180* t-stat, and colder plugs. Works good for some but others still need more to run safetly. See sig, a 3.4 is going on mine soon!
R Dubya
Well I did the work over a few days.. my brother moved to Indiana to go to school so he wanted his car in good shape to go. 14 hr drive from NY. We changed the coupler, both tensioner pulleys because they were what was making the horrible scratching noise.. also the SC oil, coolant flush, fuel filter, thermostat, and oil and filter change. Everything went smooth as silk, not a bad car to work on I must say. Pretty easy on the top end. Runs great, just like it did, but much quieter. I didn't notice much of a gain from the pulley, but with and intake and exhaust I'm sure it would wake it up.
