rshissler
Hey all, I'm new at this and just have some question maybe anyone of u can help me with. In the morning when i start up my car and take off it takes it awhile for it to shift into 2nd gear like i put it down into 2nd gear and it wineds out in first for like half a mile or so then finally shifts into 2nd then i can put it back into drive and it goes normally. i also noticed that when takein a cornor at like 35 mph or higher the car cuts out (not like stalls but loses power) and kicks back in. i know the trany needs to be replaced soon cuz it shifts hard in 2nd and 3rd gear. just wonderin if anyone knows what could be causein it. GP1138
Checked your transmission fluid lately? Is it low? I'd be willing to bet so, the fluid will shift around if you take corners too fast. Really, any 4T60 I've driven does that, but if you're losing a significant amount of power, coupled with the lack of shift when cold, I'd say either your tranny is fried or you need to add fluid. I drove around with a constant tranny fluid leak, and was low on fluid quite a bit, so I know what kind of symptoms low fluid could cause. It sucks. 93CutlassSupreme
i would just drive it gently until the trans dies altogether. i wouldn't put any money into it as long as the car is still driveable.
CutlassSL91
When beginning to accelerate from a stop it takes a second before the thing kicks in. I hope i'm not looking at lots of $$$ !
1990lumina
Does it get back to "normal" after driving for a bit? I ask because my Lumina does that exact same thng when cold in 1st gear, however I don't whined it out for fear of me screwing my engine up when it is so cold... my dad told me to warm my car up and put it in neutral when warming it up because it warms the transmission also.. I haven't tried it yet but it worked on our old 87 Suburban.

Like it stumbles for a second?!? If so, that sounds like a TPS problem

My Cutlass stumbles from a stop, and a new TPS didn't correct the condition
