becuz34 Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 My brother installed a corsa exhaust on his 02'gtp and i was wondering if his old gtp exhaust will fit on my 99 monte carlo 3.1. Except for hanger/locatations, will this fit? I've searched but have been unable to find the right answers. Thanks Quote
Euro Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 you would have to do some custom work, and i doubt the piping would have enough clearance under the monte since it was made for the GP. I would just stick with getting some magnaflows or flowmasters Quote
DiscoStudd Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 I doubt it seeing as the floorpans are different between Gen 1/1.5 and Gen 2 W's. I've seen exhausts sold for the Gen 2 W's that were model specific (ie, a GP exhaust wouldn't fit on an Intrigue, etc...) Quote
Brian P Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 To be honest, I was staring at the undercarriage of a '04 GP GT that came to my job, and the dual exhaust is basically routed the same exact way as the '91+ style exhausts! Even the damn hangers are in close spots. As different as everyone claims the gen2's are, I really don't see it. The only thing I didn't do was take actual measurements, but I can say for sure it would be "damn close" just lay the exhaust under the car and compare it. Quote
EurosportZ34 Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 i'd think it would be pretty similiar but of course you'd have to do alot of customization for it to be perfect...try it out and let us know! Quote
WhiteOut Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 There's a first generation Z34 cruising around town here with a 04' GP exhuast so I have to believe it can be done. Quote
Euro Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 There's a first generation Z34 cruising around town here with a 04' GP exhuast so I have to believe it can be done. is it the whole exhaust, or just the tips? cause ive seen a 86? Pontiac Parisienne(Chevy Caprice sister) at my school with side exhaust with 04 GP GT tips. Quote
WhiteOut Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 It appears to be the whole exhuast, or at the very least the mufflers, tips, and the Y-Pipe. I only checked the car out for a few seconds while I was at NAPA once. I suppose I could stop in and ask the kid tomorrow since he works there. Quote

That's the way I'm thinking also, my 01's exhaust looks almost exactly like the routing on my first gens. If I'm remembering right, Jeremy(stlunatics2003) put a 2nd Gen Grand Prix exhaust system on his 1989 Cutlass. I'll ask him later the exact year he used and what he had to do, if anything, to get it to fit properly. I'll also try to get measurements on a 1st vs. 2nd Gen sometime here soon. Quote
