Black Adam Posted December 13, 2004 Author Report Posted December 13, 2004 i haven't a clue i'm a clueless newb to cars his son is the car swap upgrade guy but he is in florida racing mustangs Quote
terryk2003 Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 maybe he needs the vin to make the new engine run!? ...but, if thats the case, i don't see why you couldnt just give him a vin from another grand am with a 3400!?...or maybe he wants to get a new 3400 ECM...i think you could just have yours reprogrammed though...maybe not since yours would be OBDI and the 3400 is OBDII... jeremy Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 he probably wants to make sure that the engine isn't stolen...... Quote
slick Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 he probably wants to make sure that the engine isn't stolen...... That would be my only guess. There is no reason why he should need the vin to swap in that engine. Quote
Brian P Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 I'm surprised a shop would do a swap like that. Just find a GA in a parking lot and copy its VIN Quote
EurosportZ34 Posted December 13, 2004 Report Posted December 13, 2004 tell him he is nuts for needing the VIN#, and all of us car guys say so...let him know that you will get back with him once the guy you bought it from calls you back. Quote

Actually, it seems to be a fairly wanted item in the Beretta community. Mated with a 5-speed and a few bolt on's, there seeing low 15's, high 14's. Quote

skiiirt Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 I would be weary of a seller who doesnt answer questions Quote
SleeperRed90TGp Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 If that shop needs the vin to do the swap you better go somewhere else because they don't know what there doing. It's pretty much plug and play except for the injectors. You can either change thoes to ones that fit your harnes or get adaptors from old to new. Jud Quote
jeremy Posted December 15, 2004 Report Posted December 15, 2004 did you call the shop and find out why they "needed" the VIN??? Quote
