Idle changes with brakes

the power assist is draining power from your system, making the alternator kick in and up the revs by 100 or so, you can really see the effect at night, try it with the headlights on.

Not that I have any better explanation for whats going on, but that doesn't make any sense at all...power brake assist is by intake vacuum not electricity.

Its just the use of the vacuum that does it, pump them real fast some cars will stall

Old cars used vacuum wipers, under WOT when there is no vacuum the wipers stop, close throttle blade and all kinds of vacuum and they spin real fast, also had vacuum clutches

Shoebox Chevies had a vacuum ashtray as a dealer installed option, would vacuum the smoke into the engine and the ashes into a mason jar

I got a 97 Lumina At home that does the exact opposite thing. when you step on the brakes, the idle drops. doesn't do it every time you step on the brakes, but it does it often. Also, if you put on the rear defroster, or put the car into reverse, it will do this sometimes, To the point to where the car feels like it is going to stall, but never does. BTW, it has been doing that since my parents bought the car in 2000. Still got the oringinal altenator in it though.

I think so too, but it dosen't do it all the time. If I spray some carb spray around the throttle body, egr, and "4 tube vacuum thingy", the rpm goes up slightly. The problem is I can't tell which one it is. You spray it once and it wont do it again.
