Carotop
Ok just seein if anyone knows what this is. My idle jumps around when I stop at a light and after a while it goes up to 1,000 and stalls. So does anyone know what the trouble might be? GTPrix
Im assuming the 3.1 I had this problem last year, the frequency of those sympotoms seemed to increase over time too. I ended up changing plugs / wires, changed the O2 sensor, and cleaned the EGR. It hasn't happened since. You might want to think about doing a combination of these things. 5speedz34
Really, it could be anything, but it sounds like a vacuum leak of some kind. Maybe its the intake gaskets?
Carotop
Well it smells kinda gasy when I start the engine up after it stalls so it might be choke or somethin? But anyone else have any other ideas? I'm gonna bring it to my shop class and I'll ask the teacher what he thinks.
digitaloutsider
Try an idle relearn and see if that helps. Instructions are in the W-body FAQ's.

Standing on the driverside with hood open... run the car for a min, then turn the car off and disconnect the left most vac line on the throttlebody. If any gas is comming out if that line with the engine off... thats the problem. The regulator isn't holding pressure so when it leaks back into the intake it saturates the filter... that why you smell gas. Like I said... just a guess. Carotop
Well I think it was cuz it hadent been driven for the whole summer until now. Because it seemed fine today so that mighta been the problem. I'm still gonna bring it to class and see what my teacher can do with the brakes
