OldsmoBeast Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 I'm thinking I might have to replace my ICM and Coils soon...and if I do, I was wondering if it would be worth the switch to a hotter 99+ ICM and coils...would I see any decent gains in HP or MPG from this mod on my stock '97 3100? and would this cause any problems? Thanks YK Quote
5speedz34 Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 I heard all it does is a better spark curve, and that's really it, I know Slick did it. Quote
Brian P Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 I thought they were all the same? Quote
Bossman429 Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 I thought they were all the same? I don't think GM coil packs have changed since 1988, or whenever the hell they came out on the 2.8 MPFI. Have they? and isn't spark curve controlled by the ECM, not the ICM, I think the ICM just tells the coils when to fire as instructed by the ECM. Quote
5speedz34 Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 Were's slick I know he can settle this. Quote
Brian P Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 I thought it was the same and I wasn't seeing things. My dad's '02 3100 has an identical DIS to mine. The '04+ engines- 3500, series 3 3800 (I believe) have a different DIS setup, but I don't know if any advantages. Quote
