WhiteMonteZZZ
Hello everyone. Saw your forum mentioned on MyMonte.com and figured i'd pop over and ask you all something. Those of you with 3.4 DOHCs, do any of you have a small stumble at initial take-off with your vehicles? I've gone through most sensors and vacuum lines (including the dreaded intake gaskets) with no luck. I actually solved it (as my 95 MC has "OBD 1.5") by bumping up the idle with the tb screw (no codes thrown), but was wondering if anyone else encountered/encounters this. Thanks in advance, Mark
95 3-4
Mine did that and was also apparently incurable, OBD 1.5 is a pita and a 3.8 solved my problem even if it is less hp And that screw is not an idle screw, but a positive stop to prevent the throttle blade from centering in the bore and digging into the aluminum throttle body bore, if it cures the hesitation problem tho I would do it all day, that feature really saved the tires as they would never ever spin, also sucked not ever being able to race out of the hole
WhiteMonteZZZ
Weird. People over at MyMonte and 60degreev6 say it's for idle control. Looking at it, it appears to slightly open the butterfly, i.e. giving the car more throttle. It "appears" that it sets the stop as to where the throttle butterfly closes....Maybe I should tell them they were wrong and to look again. WhiteOut
I get that problem with my 3.4 on really cold and wet mornings, other than that though my car doesn't do it.

You want to make sure they're all there, and intact, and not loose, otherwise, you'll end up with the engine falling out of the car. Does your car clunk when you pull into a driveway? My Grand Prix sure as hell did, and it ended up shitting the left front cradle bolt when I was driving it. The steering ended up completely changing, I needed to cock the wheel to the left rather than the right as it used to be. The car was horribly unstable at high speeds, as well, and I couldn't drive hard in the rain at all, steering was real real picky. Bottom line: check the cradle bolts. If you junk that car I'll drive up to MI and hit you. I'd love to have a car with a moonroof. I'll fix the cradle and the engine stumble. I don't know exactly how one would go about fixing the cradle clunking, though. Maybe new bushings, but I can't be sure.

GP1138
you'll be the first one to know when it's for sale. Don't worry about it, I won't be able to buy it for what you want for it. I'm pretty much limited to $500 for a new car.
