jpfish
Ive recently been having some problems since the cold weather has started, can someone please help me locate what i need to fix? first off, sometimes my car wont start, there is no crank and at all, just a simple click of the starter motor, if i pull the key out and turn it again, it will click angain, and i reapeat this until it does start, it takes about 4-5 times sometimes, sometimes, itll work on the 1st try. Wth? Next, sometimes my ABS light will come on, generally its when my speedo starts to go up, possible a speed sensor, but the ABS light only comes on about 50% of the time, and sometimes itll just pop on while im crusing.... and about 25% of the time the ABS light comes on the BRAKE light also is lit, WTF? Finally, sometimes, maybe once a day the car will actually stall, generally when im under 10 mph, the radio turns off, and the temp and bat gauges pop up real quick, then the engine starts again, in a matter of under 5 seconds. Sometimes on my radio resets. While driving, my lights flicker in and out, not completely out but dim a little and get brighter. This all happens with my radio on low and my system off. Just today, my blinker began being REALLY slow, i mean on for 5 secs, then off, then on for 5 sec.... it was a long ass blinker.... So i got home and checked my terminal connects and such, and the Remote power lead / Fuse control power peg thing was really HOT it burned my finger and now i got a friken blister on it, haha. Can anyone help me?! what is wrong with my car, any ideas? it has a new ICM and ECM/computer new plugs and wires.... im thinking the it could be the alternator or some fusable link i saw mentioned on the forums? any help, ideas, broken parts, and ways to check if they are indeed causeing my car to be so f-ing stupid? thanks, jp

DiscoStudd
Sounds like your Auxillary positive terminal nut is loose. Either that or one (or both) of your battery cables is loose at the battery. The positive bat cable could be loose at the starter and/or the negative cable could be loose where it connects to the block. My money's on the Aux + terminal nut. One night I was driving home from work (in my Regal) and the motor, headlights, and dash lights all went dead on me. In the days leading up to this, the ABS light was lit. I found the plastic cover over the Aux terminal melted and the nut loose. After I tightened the nut down the car fired right up, and the ABS light was no longer lit. I went for about a month where I would tighten down the nut whenever I put gas in the car. I finally swiped another terminal nut when I was at the boneyard and tightened it down on top of the original nut. I haven't had any problems with it loosening ever since... ross442
I have found that the auxillary bat. + post can cause all sorts of problems with voltage, starting, and accessories. I used to have problems with an ABS light and the starter sometimes not engaging, also slow blinkers and low voltage when you are in the rain at night with lights, defrost, and rear defog on, slow blinkers, etc. Cleaning the aux. + post fixed all that for me now my car runs 14 volts consistently and no problems. Talk about an easy fix, I was preparing to do the Dreaded 3.4 alternator.

Pull the cover off of the Aux + Post and tighten away on the nut. Be careful not to smack the ratchet against the strut tower (or the fender, or anything else metal under the hood.) Shouldn't take you more than a minute to remedy the problem...

CuttySup
Hmmmmm, all I know is that the turn signal thing is relatively normal. Try buying an electronic flasher. What kind of car is it anyway?
