rockyrunner99
i searched but there was no help there. I need help getting the air out of the cooling system of my 3.1. i have messed with it before and never had any problems. i was warmer out then too. i think there is an air pocket around the thermostat. I was told to not open the bleeders when the car was running though, is that true, even the one over the thermostat. thanks
Robby1870
start the car cold, let it warm up and open the bleeder valve on the T-stat right before it opens, then when just coolant comes out, close it, and all the air is out
R Dubya
it also helps to squeeze the radiator hoses to help move the bubbles forward, some people just leave the radiator cap open while the bubbles come out, or you can open the bleeder on top of the thermostat housing. You will lose coolant either way so wrap a towel or shop rag around the thermo housing when you do it.
