supreme_style21
You should have flashed that SES light out while you had it. I'm figuring on needing a new cat.. and possibly another O2 after all is said and done. Didn't get anywhere with it today.. gonna check the fuel pressure regulator tomorrow.. perhaps that, or an injector(s) have gone bad. Hoping, anyway. DaveFromColorado
Hey, I know you're way out in East Grand Forks, and I'm located in the cities, but I'd be willing to help ya fix your car. I've got a scan tool that'll read your car (easily) and we can go thru it from there. There's pleanty of LOCAL Highways we can take the car on to put it under a load to attempt to find this misfire. I have seen this in a few 3.1's, and it's always been a different thing ... I know if you have a missing catalytic converter, at idle the SES light will come on (happens in my Z-34 all the time, used to happen in my old Lumina 3.1 and in my Buick Regal 2.8) I've got a bunch of expirence working on the 3.1's and I'm willing to lend a hand should the time come when you're unable to find the problems yourself. now, if you're willing to sell the car ... let's make a deal. --Dave. Brian P
It's always good to have spare sensors and other electricals, be it from the JY or wherever. The mechanics are obviously useless. I initially thought it's probably a flaking MAP sensor but now I'm leaning towards saying the DIS.
Robby1870
What if more than one injector was leaking badly? That would explain the bad gas mileage, smell of gas, gas in oil and the good response to WOT. I initially thought injectors or MAP
Guest Anonymous
I say it's the coolant temp. sensor. Have they put one of those in it yet?
supreme_style21
CTS? I've replaced that not too long ago for unrelated reasons. MAP has been replaced. EGR has been replaced. Dave, I've dropped you a line. I won't be fixing it.. I went to the bank today and picked up a personal loan.

supreme_style21
It'll be parked in a shed at home if I can't get anything from it. I can easily pick up something else with cash. I've gotten my money out of it. As far as additional costs, Dave doesn't live around here.. over six hours away. I'm done with it.. The towel has been thrown in. I'm tired of it. The killer would be if, after installing the new engine, the problem is still there! And such the luck would be. The car, in all honesty, isn't worth my time and money to do so. I'll be much happier after tomorrow when I drive home my new car.
