sl3196 Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ Edit because I'm bored: Make : OLDSMOBILE Model : CUTLASS Year : 1994 Manufacturer : GENERAL MOTORS CORP. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 97V017000 Recall Date : FEB 04, 1997 Component: VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:SWITCH/WIRING Potential Number Of Units Affected : 349331 Summary: SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A STRAINED OR SEPARATED WASHER/WIPER SWITCH POWER FEED WIRE. Consequence: THIS CAN CAUSE THE WINDSHIELD WASHER/WIPER TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY AND COULD ULTIMATELY RESULT IN INOPERATIVE WIPERS. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR IN A SEVERE WEATHER SITUATION, DRIVER VISIBILITY COULD BE REDUCED, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH. Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE OLD DESIGNED WASHER/WIPER SWITCHES WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED SWITCH. Notes: OWNER NOTIFICATION: OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH 1997. Kalgorn Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 Does it matter what dealer you call and give your VIN to? I went to that page and checked out '92 Z34s. ake : CHEVROLET Model : LUMINA Year : 1992 Manufacturer : GENERAL MOTORS CORP. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 92V161000 Recall Date : OCT 26, 1992 Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE Potential Number Of Units Affected : 1058 Summary: THERE IS FUEL LEAKAGE AT THE FUEL TANK FILL AND/OR VENT PIPE EXTENSION SOLDER JOINTS. Consequence: FUEL LEAKS CAN LEAD TO A VEHICLE FIRE IF EXPOSED TO ASOURCE OF IGNITION. Remedy: REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. Notes: SYSTEM: FUEL SYSTEM.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS WITH METHANOL/ETHANOL FUEL SYSTEMS. I believe that I have that problem. If I get pretty low on gas, when I reach my destination and park the car I can hear a loud, constant beeping noise from the fill area. To stop it I either have to just wait or I can open the fill cap a bit and let the fumes out. Think this sounds like the recall? Quote
HokemBokem Posted November 26, 2004 Report Posted November 26, 2004 If you take your car to the dealer becasue of one of these recalls will they fix it for free? Or will you have to pay for labor or something? Quote
