Cueman Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 ok, here is the situation..I get in my car last night to go to the store, and the brake pedal gets hard, then 5 seconds later ther ABS and brake lights come on! I checked the fluid and its fine, did'nt see any leaks anywhere. Any opinions? Master cylinder? brake booster? or ABS module? Any Ideas are appreciated! Quote
supreme_style21 Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Did it do it that one time? Or is it still in the same situation? Quote
jeremy Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 ......brake pedal gets hard.... ....seriously though, just a one time instance, or still happening? Quote
Cueman Posted November 23, 2004 Author Report Posted November 23, 2004 No, it's still the same. I tried pumping it w/ the engine on and off, I am trying to find a parts store that does the ABS scanning tool, but have not had any luck...don't really want to take it to the "stealership" Quote
Andrew Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 make sure your vacuum line to your master cylinder is connected well at both ends. on my ole z, this is what made my brakes really hard and once reconnected, all was fine. Quote
EurosportZ34 Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 brake booster is my guess...i had problems with my pedal getting hard and the lights coming and and stuff before Quote
Cueman Posted November 23, 2004 Author Report Posted November 23, 2004 I'll check the booster line tonite for any plugs or leaks. How hard is the booster assembly to replace? hopefully is just a vacuum leak though, is there any sure way of nailing down what the problem could be? Quote
Cueman Posted November 23, 2004 Author Report Posted November 23, 2004 By the way, my car is a 1995 cutlass supreme, 3.1 Quote
DiscoStudd Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Have you checked your fuses? I know it won't explain the "hard pedal" but there is a fuse that, if blown, would cause the ABS and Brake Lights light up at the same time... The hard pedal sounds like a vacuum booster problem...
