whats it doing now?

its hard to tell with the 4t60 a hard shift could me a few things. Mostlikely a vacume line leak but could also mean internals are wearing. If all gears shift and work within normal conditions then i wouldn't worry to much about it. The 4t60and 4t60e can take quite a beating, but dont try kill it b/c its very possible to destroy one.

check your fluid levels in Neutral(car on) make sure it isnt dirty or burn smelling.. also its good to know if the trany has been serviced or needs servicing soon.

I can attest to the 4T's durability. my friend constantly neutral- dropped his from 3 grand or he would do reverse to drive drops for 30 MPH if he was in a bad mood. And it took him about a year of torture to break it.

This kid that lives down the street would alsways do that kind of shit with his Saturn. About 2 weeks after ge got it the tranny blew. Then about a month ago he blew his engine

i recently blew the tranny in my car, but eh, another good indication that internals are worn is if you are driving at high-way speeds, and you let off the gas and the car rocks almost as if i would be a bad u-joint in a RWD application.

the 4t60e is some-what durable, but not very durable at that. there are rumors that state the reason that the 3.4 didn't come with more HP is because of this transmission.

if you take car of the tranny, it will take care of you, if you don't take care of it, it will let loose very quickly. most of the internals are made from a soft steel, and too much abuse you can overheat the tranny *common if you like to chomp on the gas*

so i spent the extra money to put hardened compents in my transmitions, edspecially with the clutch cage. those are very soft and can turn into a very soft meterial at higher temperatures. clutches also tend to warp easily in that transmission. if they are sprinky, then well, they got too hot, and burned up. yet another commen problem.

how-ever i shouldn't complain, the tranny did last me 233,xxx on the original tranny. i can't wait to get my baby back on monday.

I acts like its low on fluid, at a stop sometimes is "feels" like it goes into neutral until you rev it up and "wham" it re-engages. Also, occasionally at a stop, it again "feels" like it goes out of first then into neutral and "wham" (really hard) back into first. It repeats this over and over until I physically put it into neutral.

Thanks for the replies,

Paul

i would say thats your clutches or bands.

i think no matter what you have to get a new tranny or a rebuild, depending on what you want.

i think its beyond lucus oil.

this is just about what happened to me, every time i applied gas, the car would rev a little and slam into gear...

not very fun.

but then again, just about everything in the tranny was toast.
