Repost!

Yep, its a crappy V8 alternative to the L67. Gives you that big VROOM! VROOM! V8 rumble!!!! I want an LT5 in my GP.

ever drive a 4.9 Cadillac? they're not as bad as everyone claims. i know a couple with well over 100 grand on the odo.

it feels quicker than a crappy 4.6 SOHC Ford, but then again that's not much to brag about.

The ASG is not a good motor. It is basically a bored out 4.9 caddy. I still have the video of it racing, and getting owned, by a stock Z34/5-speed. The times were like a 15.204 for the Z and a 15.4xx for the 5.slow. But the driver got out, and said "God it feels funny to have a Z34 spin its tires, and go without having to wait." THe car sounded great and had gobloads of torque, but in the end, the 3.4 ended up catching it.

Well I'm not saying they are terrible engines.. just that that ASG kit is over hyped. An L67 can be make faster, easier. There are many more potent V8s that would be more powerful with more aftermarket that would really make a w-body FAST.

... when I measured out the engine bay in my 88 Regal, I figured out I could fit a smallblock 350 in there - the only problem I was looking at was the exhaust for the front bank, but if I had the money, I'd highly doubt it'd be much of a problem for long.

I'm sure you can build up a small-block 383 to go way faster then any L67.

dude, that's not even a question. have you ever looked at what'd avaiable for the 350? the 350 has a larger aftermarket than the 302 Ford even.

asg does not do a custom cam, look at the valve specs on that v8, everyone knows there is much more power to be made. hell! why not turbo it??? it would seem like fun!!!

The question is, will the tranny and the rest of the car take it? no one knows

no one's man enough to stuff a 350 or bigger in a w-body

so that's why i'm gonna get me a base lumina and be the first to do it

i prepared to do that to mine, down to having a full frame with the correct track and wheelbase, a 3.73 rear end, and my buddy has an LT1/4L60-E combo waiting for me. then i started checking into our stupid emissions laws. and there's not really any way i could get around some of their wording. you guys don't have e-check in your area i'm betting. i'm about ready to find a little piece of property in the next county down, stick a small camper and a mailbox on it, and register my stuff through there so i don't get raped by e-check. they failed my van 3 times, with no SES light and running smooth, all new sensors, new converter, new injectors, and i basically have to junk it cause it will never pass.

Your right...i live in the boonies....the don't do any sort of vehicle inspections here....i love it 8)

hopefully i can stay in this area or find another area thats similar so i don't have to deal with emissions laws

.. if I were to throw a 350 (383, but we all know that's just a 350 with a 400 crank) into a w-body, I'd make sure it stayed front wheel drive, it's not that hard of a project, but exhaust routing, trans adapter, water pump, hell, just money in general prevended me from doing it.
