Ribbie
Just as the title says, have you done it? If so please throw me a bone, details. Mainly parts used. I looked on the main w-body page for the info and it is confusing. I am not sure if you do need the hibs from the newer car..... So I figured I would try and hit up someone who has done it or had hard core knowledge of it..... Thanks D P.S. Front went with out a hitch....!!! Hubs transfer then your done... wbody1973
new/used larger caliper new/used pads new/used rotors bolts to hold the calipers(these bolts changed in length) think that should do it. you need to remove the dust sheilds to install the larger setup. Guys, help me out if i left some important information out...
GutlessSupreme
he about hit the nail on the head. you need everything here x2 (in other words, both rear calipers) http://www.w-body.com/images/new_caliper_diagram.gif then new pads/rotors. Also be aware that the parking brake system from the newer cars will not bolt right up, and you'll have to play with it a little bit. http://home.comcast.net/~aldridgec/TGP/brakes/rear_brake_upgrade.htm bottom of that page is the best (only really) solution I've seen. Also be aware that I think your current spare tire won't fit over the new calipers (I THINK...)
loominaz34
Is it difficult? Meaning is there any custom fab work or does it bolt right up?
wbody1973
simple. Basically it's just.... remove tire remove caliper remove rotor remove dust shield remove old pads from new caliper install new rotor install new caliper with proper bolts and new pads bleed brakes hook up e brake if desired. put back on tire that's a quick step thru of it. It's not really that hard, just take your time, and you'll get it done
Guest TurboSedan
Also be aware that I think your current spare tire won't fit over the new calipers (I THINK...) you're right, it won't fit. you'll need a '94+ spare tire, the '88-'93 spare is smaller and it will rub the newer caliper (been there done that )
Ribbie
That's what I was hoping. Thanks guys/gals(if there was any). And yes I know I need two of everything..... So really what does this convert do other than ditch those crappy seazing calipers? Are they of diff size? THanks again guys.... D
GutlessSupreme
your rotors will be up from 10.1" to 11"
Guest TurboSedan
and the pads will be alot easier to change.
