Green river

When I came home from raking leaves I saw a stream of coolant leading from my car. I turned it on to find out where the leak was coming from and coolant was getting slung off the serpentine belt. The line from the overflow tank had a drop of coolant on it but it wasn't causing a stream as far as I could tell. What's going on?

Mines also leaking coolant from the waterpump but not that bad. Its only dripping very slowly causing me to go through lots of Dex-Cool  Im going to have the waterpump replaced here very soon.

Well... at least I was right. :read:

I can't figure out how much coolant i'm going to need to buy. so how much does the coolant system itself hold?

I think the cooling systems are 14 quarts (correct me if I'm wrong, it could be 12)? Either way you'll need two gallons of the green stuff for a fill.

How much is in one of those big bottles of Dex-Cool?

I just found out those big bottles of Dex Cool are only a gallon. And I also just read in my chilton that the cooling systems capacity for my car is 11.1 quarts which is almost 3 gallons  Thats like 35 bucks in coolant.

Go to wally world, they'll have the Halvoline brand of Dexcool which is the OEM stuff that comes in your car, I think it runs around $8-9 a gallon.

OK so I have to brag, my car runs again, after a few hours and a little swearing and a few slaps of the forehead, but anyway, new waterpump is installed.
