MoTox8410 Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 i have a 93 Z34 AUTO and when i put the shifter into 1st it seems to make a whining sound...it does not make this in any other gear Can not figure this out any ideas??? Quote
Robby1870 Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 my old 92 did that too and that tranny is strong as hell. Dont worry. As long as your fluid is full and red, and your shifts are firm, you're fine Quote
digitaloutsider Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Mine's done that for as long as I can remember. Go figure. Quote
loominaz34 Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 My first gear whine all the time; regardless of where the shifter is. I think it's just gear whine. which is fine. My friend's VW GTI does it too. Quote
DaveFromColorado Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 in the 4t60/4t60E transmissions, when you put the selecter into 1 (manual-1 as it's called) the (E) transmission activates both shift solenoids, and all the trani's (E and non-E) energize the 3rd clutch, input clutch, forward band, and the 1&2 band's, it also holds the 3rd roller clutch, the input sprag and the 1&2 support roller clutch - so basically it's when the most things are activated in the transmissions, so it's gonna get a bit noisey. --Dave.
