PsychoX
I hope this is the right spot for this topic. Anyways, on a 3.4L engine which exhaust sounds the best? Magnaflow, flowmaster, dynomax, borla, other? I just ordered magnaflow mufflers and a high flow cat. not sure how they are going to sound, but i hope it sounds nice. like a deep tone, not riceish. if anyone has sound clips they would be useful. thanks! ismellrealbad
magnaflows are good mufflers, but i guess i just picked the wrong ones. i wanted exactly what you are describing, but wht i got was a low, LOUD annoying droning sound at low RPMs. loud enough to vibrate everything inside the car plus overpower my subs and make them sound like shit...i am NOT happy. the hi flow cat makes a pretty cool sound seprate from the mufflers, i like it. i had a resonator put in afterwards because i was told it would control the droning......it didnt. i had another one put in also and that didnt help either. im fucked till i can find money for new mufflers :? the person who put my L67 in for me also got magnaflows, but they sound nothing like mine, if anything they are quiet. its weird. oh well i dont know what kind to buy now either

This has been argued a bunch of times on here! Some people like the way flowmasters sound while others argue that they don't sound anything more than a little louder stock exhaust tone. I've heard people on this board comment on how raspy dynomax sound while magnaflow sound nice and smooth at almost all RPM's. It boils down to you as an individual...if you want that meaner tone then a performance cam will bring that out...I don't know whats out there for the 3.4. I've heard some 6 cylinder w's sound like 8's so its possible.

cryptnix
pretty much depends on if you don't mind feeling it vibrate everything to crap in your car.

My main muffler page (fit up ect.) is here: http://members.aol.com/regal231/muffler.htm I personally enjoy them...even more so since they were $12.50 a piece. Jon89le
I have a crossflow F-Body Hooker Aerochamber on my GrandPrix and the day after i put it on i got complements all over the place with mouths dropping on acceleration. I'll have a sound clip on my thanksgiving break. I have pics for any disbelievers of crossflows not fitting 8)
TeeJay3800
That's cool that you got it to fit. Those cross flows are a great way to get the dual exhaust look and sound. On my car I know the spare tire well would pretty much prohibit using a muffler like that. I'd be interested in seeing pics of your setup because I would put a Flowmaster 80 on in a heartbeat if I thought it would work. Are you sure you want to claim "mouth-dropping" acceleration improvement though?
Jon89le
Are you sure you want to claim "mouth-dropping" acceleration improvement though? Haha, well my motors cammed so it really woke her up. I used to have a bad dead spot in the motor around 4000 and its almost gone. Once i do the 2.5" downpipe and cat it should pull totally smooth. Ive had some people tell me it sounded like a 5.0 with flows. Here are some links to the pics for any stone-age dialup users ...just kidding http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/onebadgp/Catback1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/onebadgp/pipe006.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/onebadgp/pipe001.jpg

Jon89le
I have a 3.1. And it came stock with single exhaust over the leaf also...
93CutlassSupreme
I have a 3.1. And it came stock with single exhaust over the leaf also... it looks like you switched to the 3.4 style where the pipe runs under the leaf. i just split my exhaust right after the monoleaf. you can tell though one muffler gets most of the flow
cutlassdude96
mine goes under the spring
Jon89le
All of the dual exhaust applications ran under the leaf to my knowledge regardless of motor. And i know what you mean about one muffler getting most of the flow. Air's like water...it travels the path of least resistance so to speak. digitaloutsider
All of the dual exhaust applications ran under the leaf to my knowledge regardless of motor. Not true I've seen plenty of dual-exhaust Prix's with the piping running OVER the leaf.
