what the heck (now very bad noise)

i was driving home from lunch todday listening to radio loud and as i am driving by the lambo dealership there was a labo getting loadeed so i put it in nutral it is an auto and after i reved it up it got stuck at 7500 just reving and reving untill i pushed the brakes. this has never happened and i know i have a vaccum leak could that be it

You gave no vehicle information, but no w-body engine will rev to 7500 in neutral.

Thats what I was thinking. Mine i think stops at 3500 or so.

Yes and why would you even do that? Need more vehicle info. Cruise .. somehow, sticking.. if its an older w with a vacuum dump related to the brake pedal.

that shouldn't have happened in neutral (calnm down or you will blown up your motor) the brake pedal uses vacuum, so the vacuum leak is most likely the culprate

Actually it is possible, my cutlass is a 94 with the 3100, and mine never used to, but now, when it's in neutral and stopped, the rev limiter kicks in at around 4000, but if you put it in neutral while still rolling, the rev limiter will not kick in at all, i know this because for awhile, i wanted it to sound good, but had no money, so i cut the muffler off, and it sounded pretty damn good, cuase my cutlass has that glasspack resonator, so of course every once in awhile i'd hafta pop it in neutral and try to intimidate other ppl, duno if it would intimidate a lambo though lol

yeah...it IS possible to rev over the limiter in neutral while you're rolling...when my cutty is stopped it will only rev to like 3500...when its rolling in neutral it'll rev over 5... :wink: ...and FWIW: there was a lambo at the track the friday night i took the cutlass...it only ran 16's...i dunno if he wasnt even trying or if those car's are just built more for PURE SPEED!...i had already made my run though, i wish i woulda got to race him!!...i prolly coulda been ahead of him @ some point! :lol:

well it is now very bad. when ever i push on the gas it maks a orriable noise and it sounds like it is going to blow up. or maybe it is. it really does not accererate anymore andwhen i step on the gas and it reached 4 grand it is just a nasty noise and now it feels like it is slipping.

 

it is a 94 z34

I suggest you stop revving it to 7500 rpm.

 

Very hard to tell from your description what has happened. If you feel slipping that is in tranny going, but that wouldn't be caused by over-revving in neutral.

sounds like he overreved it, and one of the cams slipped a bit on the cam gear ... it's probably destroying itself every time it runs...

my dad said the same thing. and when i ran a scaner on it the temp was 240 degrees. does that mean it has to be rebuilt. and is the tranny blown or why would it not shift at grand. so what do i do now. i have a warrante against anything fo thte trany. but is tha the prolem

on the scanner it says that cyclinder 1 is messed up. should i check the cams and pull the belt cover off. do you think the engine is done

also when i measure the coolant temp it was at 240 and i have a 180 stat in there.

I guess the real question here is:

Why would you rev a w-body in front of a lambo when you know that those cars cost like $500,000 and have like 500hp compared to a $15,000 (brand new) GM W car?

It won't intmidate anyone , you'll just get laughed at, now if its a ricer honda then sure why not., they laugh but they will get fucked when you race them.

That's sorta what I was thinking. If you want to rev it, you surely don't have to go to 7500. I don't feel sorry for anyone who revs that high then has motor problems.

If I ever do rev it (which is very rarely) I sure as hell wouldent go to 7500 :shock: 8000 rpm's is where my speedo stops and 7500 is well in the red zone. Your just asking for problems

Yea I know. And it ends at 8000. 7500 is just stupid.
