I had a problem with high idle and my TPS was causing it, all I did was close the idle adjuster screw a bit on my 3.4 DOHC and it fixed everything. What motor you got? 3800 series 1? Im sure you can drop the idle a bit by looking for the adjuster screw near the TB
Slade901
What kind of problem you car is having in the first place? You may have to clear the error code first before running a computer scan again. Removing the battery cables for 15 minutes might clean the previous error code and have them test your computer (ECM) for any error codes again. Guest TurboSedan
Im sure you can drop the idle a bit by looking for the adjuster screw near the TB i don't think so. idle RPM is a function of the IAC. the only way to change it would be to edit the 'chip'. you may want to remove the IAC pintle and clean it though. also, the TPS wires do not go to the firewall...they lead back to the underhood ECM near the fender. but yes get the wiring checked out....and please give us more info like what engine do you have? Idle can be droped using the idle adjustment screw, if turned to high it'll cause a High idle (i had that issue), however you can't make big adjustments and the ECM does control most of the idle you are correct. Lee
Would a crankshaft sensor that is going bad cause this? Mine (the first time) died and wouldn't start till cold. Then it ran five minutes perfectly and died again.
