Electrical switches affecting idle

I noticed an interesting phenomenon. When i engage my turn signal, the idle will dip in rythm to the signal. The idle will also dip when i roll the windows up and down. The car has new plugs and wires. I was wondering who has had similar electrical problems and some possible causes.

you've either got a dead cell in your battery or a weak alt. I'd have both checked as soon as posible.

i say a weak cell. a battery with a dead cell won't start the car

i lost a cell wed, the starter solenoid wouldn't even click. $30 at walmart and i was back in business

I doubt its a bad alternator or battery, I'd more likely guess its a bad ground. I had a similar problem with my car. I was to the point where any excess electrical draw would cause the motor to run like ass. Simply putting on the turn signal was almost enough to kill the engine. Anywho it ended up being a bad ground at the auxillary positive battery post. Its located right near the drivers side strut tower, and all you'll have to do is take the nut off, wire brush it and the post, slap some dielectric grease on it, and you'll be good to go. I believe its a 13 or 15mm nut, and you'll need a deep socket to get it off more than likely.

Good luck sir.

Yea you need a pretty deep socket because I couldent even take it off the other day because the bolt was to long.

I've noticed that in all W-body cars I've ever driven. It's a pretty common thing, for some reason these things put a hell of a load on the electrical system. I've got an Optima Red-Top battery in my car, and I can still hear the idle drop when I hold the window switch after the windows are all the way up.
