SUPERDUTYD
i have a 92 z34 with the 3.4 that runs fine until about 4000 rpm. after that it stumbles and won't go any faster. it almost seems like the tranny. would the rev limiter kick in if the tranny was slipping? i don't think its the tranny though. any help appreciated. SUPERDUTYD
i hope not. i just replaced the pump and filter. is there a way to buy the entire pump assembly? could it be low on gas, like maybe i bent the float lever in the tank? SUPERDUTYD
no codes. i wasn't too happy with the way the new pump went in. kind of just slid in there. didn't seem to be retained too well.
stockgp
the gas tank has a cam lock on it similar to the brake booster. if you just set the fuel pump in, then there is your problem i would say...
SUPERDUTYD
i meant the actual pump itself in the pump assembly. the entire thing is locked into the tank good.

midnight rider
it should fit snug. You may have some gunk in the fuel pick upfor the pump from doing the instal or have something in the tank or lines.
gp90se
I have 2 other suggestions: A) spark plugs fouled (threefours z34 car) had no power above 4k at all, put in new plugs and the original spunk came back neutral safty isnt disengauging so when you hit 4k, it bounces off the rev limiter, rare but it happens
SUPERDUTYD
thanks everybody. i will hook up a fuel pressure gage and check the spark plugs. i hope it's the plugs.
Gemmer
Does it vibrate, or just no power? The tensioner for your timing belt might be going and let your cams slip out of timing
loominaz34
How hard is replacing the filter/ pump? I'm having the same problem on my Z.

HokemBokem
Do you know when you last had a spark plug change? You should try those first since its cheap and some people on here have had that problem.
loominaz34
I dont think it's the rev limiter because at 25 MPH, I can rev in neutral to 6500. (found that out by accident  )
excelsior
do a spark plug change & see what happens....failing that fuel pump.....my prix had that problem (fuel pump)
loominaz34
Okay so again I ask, how hard is the fuel pump/ filter change?
gpse_97
I dont think it's the rev limiter because at 25 MPH, I can rev in neutral to 6500. (found that out by accident  ) in park\neutral when not moving the limit is 3000RPM, when moving about 5mph in neutral there is no limit. loominaz34
My mechanical skills are at least good enough to set the timing belt.
