Jon89le Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Ive been having some bad creaking sounds on my front end and i cant tell where the heck its coming from. It started shortly after I installed my SusTech springs. Whenever i go around turned or brake, it sound like the front end is about to snap. To narrow the causes ive parked the car and turned the wheel side to side and i defenitely hear the creaking, so i know its something there. The top rubber mount that the spring goes up into, is that just a rubber plate just like the one the spring sits on? Is there really a wrong way to seat the spring? When I installed the spring I lined up the top end coil of the spring with the notch on that upper rubber plate. I was going to buy a new rubber insulator, the cup like thing that bolts to the top of the strut cartridge. Could one of those breaking cause the issue im having to happen? I checked it out and the top rubber ring is cracked all around but it doesnt seem like its hindering its job or anything. Balljoints are new and Tierod looks fine. Any help is really appreciated... DaveFromColorado Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 it sounds like it's the coil isolators (the rubber things) that are creeking - but without seeing it, it'd be kinda hard to tell. --Dave. Quote
Jon89le Posted October 22, 2004 Author Report Posted October 22, 2004 Do you mean the rubber things the the spring sits on and goes into? Quote
Jon89le Posted October 22, 2004 Author Report Posted October 22, 2004 Could a bad rubber insulator cause a sound like I stated? By insulator i mean the round rubber thing under the top plate. Quote
DaveFromColorado Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 yup, those things sure can cause those issues. --Dave. Quote
Jon89le Posted October 22, 2004 Author Report Posted October 22, 2004 Well then thats no good is it,lol. Any comments on properly seating the spring? Quote
DaveFromColorado Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 with those it's kinda hit or miss - especially when you install new springs on used mounts. --Dave. Quote
Jon89le Posted October 22, 2004 Author Report Posted October 22, 2004 Is "Those" the rubber insulator or the rubber spring ends? Quote
DaveFromColorado Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 yup, it's the rubber part that the spring sits in on the top part of the mount.. called isolators because they isolate the vibration away from the car (typically) --Dave. Quote
