mfewtrail Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 the pinstripe going across the front bumper on my GP is all faded(damn sun!) and the paint is flaking off because it developed small cracks in the paint which, in turn, allowed water under the paint and made it peel bad! I was wondering if the pin stripe can be repainted or if you have to buy new pin stripe molding?...thanks for some input........and yes I want to KEEP the pin striping....but paint it a different color when I repaint my whole car later this year or sometime sooner depending on availablity of $$$$$ Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Yes, that red stripe can be repainted. It's actually a red vinyl molding I think. It just needs to be prepped (sanded/scuffed) and then painted with the right amount of flex additive. But the easiest thing to do might just be to cover it with adhesive vinyl like the type used for pinstripes or racing stripes. Quote
mfewtrail Posted January 4, 2003 Author Report Posted January 4, 2003 Thanks .....I thought I should be able to paint it or have it painted.....I guess I might take a look at local stores and get some reflective red or whatever color tape to put over em for now and for good or whatever Quote
