midnight rider Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 i used to key ring mine to the inside of a hubcap if my car had them. Quote

jeremy Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 Wow, I'd never leave my car with out it being locked...but hey if thats cool if no one touches the car! I used to just leave the keys in the ignition of my old Euro because I lived in a good neighborhood and I ALWAYS would lose my keys Quote
Smoke1991 Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 befor i got my alarm and remote start isntalled i had to use the keys all the time, even broke my starter key off into the ignition, that was fun, but during that time the locations i had were the following: had 4 door and trunk keys, 1 in my wallet, 1 at home, 1 i kept on my normal key chain and 1 hidden on the car along with an ignition key had 3 ignition keys, 1 for normal use, 1 i had with a accessory key, and the other was at home. sence i have keyless entry now, i have 3 full sets with 3 remotes, 1 i use, 1 hidden on the car, the other at home. and i still keep 1 key in my wallet. when i first got my car it had no options like trunk release, thats the worst when you lock your own keys in the trunk and you cant get to them because of no trunk release or fold down seats :-( you live and learn. digitaloutsider Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 I never lock my car, and I have a spare set in the overhead console. My car is a piece of shit, has nothing worth stealing in it, and the driver door is stuck closed. I don't think anyone's going to go through the trouble of climing through the passenger side. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 I keep my spare keys in the drawer of my desk at home. Only time I've ever needed to dig out my spare keys is once when I misplaced my main keys in a place I usually stack junkmail. Some junkmail got stacked on top of them and I didn't find them for a week. Other than that, I've never needed the spare keys. Keyless entry has been a habit for me ever since '93 or so. It's a habit to NEVER lock the car from inside, always lock and unlock with the FOB. So I've never once locked keys in the car or any other such silly nonsense. Quote
Nick1234 Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 i keep the lock under my hood in the fuse panel. My hood release is broke so i know how to get it open from the outside nick Quote
OldsmoBeast Posted October 19, 2004 Report Posted October 19, 2004 I only have one set of keys :? ... the dude I got the car from said that he only ever had the one set... My door key doesn't even work in the trunk! Its kinda hard to use in the doors, but works, which leads me to believe its a copy...never had a problem with the ignition key, they're both GM factory keys but every time I think back on what the guy told me, I lean more towards the idea that my car might have been stolen...haha... anyway, I should probably get another set made, but I only ever lock/unlock with the keyless entry, so I'm always sure I have my keys with me. harrydunn Posted October 20, 2004 Author Report Posted October 20, 2004 Funny you mentioned that about the trunk key not working. My door key (trunk key?) won't unlock the trunk either. Not sure why. I keep my jumper cables on the rear seat floorboards in case my battery dies because I can't get to the trunk with the key. Quote

I do the same except I keep the cables at the very back of my trunk so I can reach them through the pass-through. Quote
dsgrntld187 Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 I have my main set of keys with my Cutlass Keys and my F-150 keys. Then, I keep a door key for my Cutlass and a single key for my F-150 in my wallet (does the door and ignition). I also have a set inside of Cutlass Keys, another for my F-150, and my spare Cavalier keys in a basket where we keep my dads F-150 keys and all the other spare keys and junk we might need. My key doesn't always work on my trunk, which really sucks. I have every CD in my trunk because of my CD changer, and if my trunk broke I'd have to rip the shit out of my rear seat because I have no pass thru Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 i used to keep an extra set in one of those black magnetic key boxes and then hid it up inside the passenger side frame rail near the cradle bolt. the box accidetally got pushed back far enough that i couldn't get it out. i eventually got it out with a coathanger but i never put my keys in there again. for now i just let my mom keep an extra set of keys, and i have my keyless entry remote sitting in my room. keyless entry is cool but i hate keeping that big clunky remote on my keychain. Smoke1991 Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 i keep my house keys and car keys seperate, but on one ring(so i can detach em whenever i need) its to annoying to have all my keys dangeling and hitting my knee. Quote
RedCavyRS99 Posted October 20, 2004 Report Posted October 20, 2004 i HAD one of those magnetic hide a key things but the damn fell off the car some time over the past 4 months i didnt realize it till i needed the damn thing so since that happend ive just been keepin my spare key fob attached to my wallet Quote
