KING JOKER Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 i have ac on my 1992 cutlass 2 door with the 3.1 . i wanted to know how to remove this and delete the ac if it is possible. can i do it and what all can i take off .any help would be appreciated. Quote
slick Posted October 17, 2004 Report Posted October 17, 2004 Yes, its possible. You will have to make a mount to mount an extra pulley to take up the lag for removing the AC. Quote
WhiteOut Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Piece of cake. Just remove the belt, remove the compressor and get a new belt meant for a 3.1 Beretta without A/C as an option. Quote
maybe2fast Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 is the compressor bad? are you looking for more power by deleting? whats the deal? Quote

digitaloutsider Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 And less drag on the entire system. My compressor broke a while back and I'm too lazy to fix it. Still am.. I just put a smaller belt on. Quote
KING JOKER Posted October 18, 2004 Author Report Posted October 18, 2004 so just take it off and get a belt for a 3.1 without ac? Quote
maybe2fast Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 you don't even have to remove the compressor if you don't want to! just put the new belt on Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 i'm removing AC for two reasons. less weight, and to make room for a nice FMIC Quote
Canada Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 My roomate has a 1988 Beretta GTU (2.8L/5 speed)......the previous owner removed the A/C and simply ran a short belt from the crank to the power steering pump........htis BARELY gives enough belt to run the water pump. GM has a idler for the non-A/C cars......my roomate has the part number for this. When he gets back, I'll post it. Quote
