1991Z34 Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 Hey guys... I've got a 1991 Z34 with the DOHC. Sometimes when I turn the key it just clicks. Usually I'll turn it back and turn it back on, and it will go fine. Last night it didn the clicking thing about 5 times. Went outside this morning, and it worked fine the first time. time for a new starter? Quote
Redfox340 Posted January 2, 2003 Report Posted January 2, 2003 ...or a battery... that clicking is your solidnoid in the starter and it's not getting enough power to the crank the engine over. Check the cells on your battery along with the battery cables and connections to the starter. Try that and see where that gets you! - RedFox340 Quote
gimp19 Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 My moms caravan did the exact same thing it was the starter. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 I have seen both the battery and the solenoid on the starter cause your problem. It could be either one. But also check your battery cables to make sure you have good connections. It's a free check so start with that. Quote
Whiskey River Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Sounds like you have a hotspot on the stator inside the starter. Mine acted the say may for the longest time but finally behaved itself. You may need to replace your starter or just live with it like I did and maybe it'll go away. :? Quote
