Goph
To remove the transmission from the bottom you have to drop the cradle right? My car is going in tomorrow to get the transmission fixed and to do that they need to drop the transmission part way to replace the bad sensor i guess. The only reason i care really is because i have neon tubes under the car that i ran the wires on the cradle.
93CutlassSupreme
this is like what, your 4th transmission?
Goph
this is like what, your 4th transmission? no, i never had the transmission worked on it was the engine that gave me problems. 3rd engine in this car with the original transmission and it will still be the original. I guess only a sensor need replaced but it is clear the hell in the thing. I don't want to fix it, I want to sell the fucking car and get a diffrent one that run right for more then 3 months out of the year.

Here is what i think about it now. I like the style of the car and all but that can use some work really. I hate every part of the shit under the hood from engine and transmission down to the spot they put the battery. The 3100 engine is the biggest pile of shit i ever seen because everyone said that the quad 4 was shit and i had one that had 168K miles on it and beat the fuck out of it and never did anything to it for engine work or trany work other then a water pump. I would not have this car if it was up to me from the 2nd week i had it when the head gaskets blew. I hate 90% of the things GM make because every GM thing we have ever had needed work to it including our 03 trailblazer that we had. My dad's 2000 F-350 has 133k miles on it and has never had any problem at all with the engine or transmission and that is being used for towing a lot of shit. I HATE GM shit unless it is a sport car but if my dad ever get a brain and sell this POS i will more then likely be getting another GP just it will be a 98+ GP GT with a 3800 in it. I want a Eclipse GST or GSX or a Ford F-150 to F-350 but that is not going to happen.
93CutlassSupreme
wow you really need to get out and drive some more fords, if you really think ford quality is higher than GM. i could spill out the chapters on chapters of problems i've had with our fords, but my hands would have arthritus when i finished. i'll just say a GM car has never left me anywhere, ever. can't say the same for ford.... i fucking hate my CS, but i'll take my CS over any ford anyday..... GP1138
Bottom line, gents, is that people tend to go with what they've been proven to be able to trust. Kevin, you've had bad experience with Fords, and good experience with GM, which has predisposed you to trust GM cars more than Fords. Even though I tend to agree, it's more than likely that GM and Ford are on about the same level when it comes to quality. Goph, you apparently have had a horrid experience with the 3100, which has brought you to hate them all. While I don't share your view (I've never really had bad experiences with that powertrain) I can understand. I won't trust Dodge Neons the same after our headgasket blew out. Bottom line, motorwise, Ford and GM are pretty much equal. I see just as many Tauruses and Tempos as I see CS's and Grand Prix. Aesthetics is another matter. Ford's late 80's/early 90's small-midsize cars are UGLY.
93CutlassSupreme
Goph, if you pick up a 4.6 F-150, be prepared for horrid performance, and be prepared to dump money into that engine from day one. keep lots of oil in the car, you'll need it as the miles rack up. drive it like a grandma too, my uncle's 01 4.6 E150 needs a fucking trans at 40,000 John lives up to his title!!!!! i still gotta post this though
Goph
We have had many Fords and all of them have never had too many problems. the worst was that our old 89 F-250 with the 360 in it i think it was ran on 7 cylinders all the time we had it but still pulled our 30ft fifth wheel with out a problem. we have had about as many problems in my car alone as what we did with all the Fords we have had. Edit: Aesthetics is another matter. Ford's late 80's/early 90's small-midsize cars are UGLY. I will give you that, they are ugly. It is not just my car, my sister's truck run like shit and it is a Chevy 1500 with the 350 in it. My brother has a 3100 in his grand am and it knocks like hell when it is cold because GM didn't build it right and there was a service bulletin that said this but didn't come right out and say that. The only GM vehicles we have ever had that didn't need much work done to them is my old GA with the quad 4 and our 04 trailblazer but that only have less then 10k miles on it and i think it was around 15k when our other one started to have transfer case problems. If you're having that many problems with a car/engine that most people around here have none with, I'd question your mechanic's skill, or your driving habits. The amount of problem you have with your car is ridiculous, seriously.

I found a recite in the glove bock for block sealer 9 months before i got the car. When i got it the thing had bad head gaskets and intake gaskets and instead of fixing them right they just put some shit in it and ran it. The car also mostly have city miles on it i figure from the Carfax i did on it not long after i got it. My mechanic is not the problem, or is my driving. I can name 10 people that beat the shit out of there cars and i mean beat the shit out of them and they don't have problems. The car is a Pile and i don't want it any more, I didn't want it from July 21 2003 when the engine blew.
