Nick1234
Example: I go outside, start the car, put her into drive, and nothing. Go to hit the gas, the motor revs up with just the slightest bit of grab, not even enough to get up to 2mph, but more than neutral. Then, i put the transmission in Neutral, if feels like something disengages, and then put it in Drive, and then you can drive forward. And im positive that it is in Drive the first time. thank you all, nick

Fluid seems to be alright. If i remember correctly the tanny fluid has never been changes before w/ 117,000 miles but it doesn't smell burnt. jeremy
I would change the fluid/filter with that many miles regardless.....
Nick1234
do you think putting in new fluid with a tranny that has had the same fluid for 11 years is a good idea. could that cause more problems? nick
sonyman87
its not the fluid i would be worried about but the fluid filter inside the trany.. your suppose to do a pan service every 60K miles you probably have a cloged filter and that can be a BAD thing get the fluid changed befor you tear shit up
paulo57509
:?: I'm wondering if the manual shift cable is out of adjustment.
Nick1234
Okay, so this past weekend i dropped the pan, replaced the filter and cleaned everything up. Added 6 quarts new tranny fluid. Problem still remains, and is getting worse. Tranny doesn't feel to be slipping when driving but when you start the car, and put it in reverse, drive, 1,2,3 nothing happens. It doesn't go into gear until after a couple minutes. Help. Im in the process of putting in Lucas stop slip, so i will let you know, but im workin on selling this car, and it is not cooperating. nick
Dan94Z34
Sounds like you have a valve in the valvebody letting pressure by it. Once the tranny warms up the metal expands sealing the leek. If you have no linepressure then you have no foward motion. There was a TSB on this I believe. Only fix is a new valvebody or tranny. Nick1234
okay, so where is the valvebody and how hard is it to replace. The tranny works fine after it gets warm. Thank you though for responding though.

excelsior
Tranny fluid/filter!!!!!!!!!!!!!
supreme_style21
I've been told by many that if the fluid is so old and original as yours is, to NOT touch it? Said it can end up doing more harm than good. Clarification?
Nick1234
well i heard to not touch it either, but i did. See the tranny good once it goes into gear. Hardly feels like it is slipping at all unless im going like under 10. Give it gas, it pulls the same as always. So I DID change the fluid and filter. Added Lucas and it still doesn't go into gear. The whole valve thing is making a lot of sense now. Also, my idle is shitty.
