GrandPrix34
Here's a lesson you MIGHT already know but haven't experience first hand like I am: (+1) Performance : (-2) Gas Milage !!!!!!!!!!!!! My gas milage sux0rs bigtime!!! I have the EGR turned off and no cat with a reprogrammed chip with modified fuel/spark tables and all I can say is this car eats fuel like a fiend! So if you still haven't begun, ask yourself whether you want to be refueling every other day. p.s.-of course, a heavy foot doesn't help either
patgizz
eh i drive a pickup truck every day and my cadillac on weekends so seeing anything over 15mpg in my lumina makes me a happy camper.
1badtgp
You can gt awesome performance and still retain fuel mileage. It just takes a little money and doing the right upgrades. My TGP gets 27mpg regularly is "nicely equiped" in the balls department. Also, we did an n/a 3800 in a freinds GP GT and it pulls nicely while still getting about 25. manitcor
when I had my 3100 boosted I got the same mileage as before the turbo as long as I wasnt a lead foot. When I floored it and got into boost you could almost watch the gas gauge drop though. My 3400 gets the same mileage with the mods ive added then when it had nothing but a pulley on the crank. Its all in the tuning
Canada
Duh. Espessically when you turn the EGR off..........why did you do that? Its only on at part throttle.......WFO and idle its OFF.
manitcor
Ive never noticed a serious difference in MPG between having the EGR enabled or blocking it off. If anything maybe 1-2mpg.
Canada
Sounds about right...............some crazies consider that a lot...............seriously. If you could take a look at your emissions..........you'd notice a higher level of NOx gases.
manitcor
of course, thats what it's there for. Ive blocked mine off since I broke a piece off the plenum thanks to not being able to get a right sized bolt for the adapter plate I had made when I dropped in the 3400 (different EGR from the 95) It kept leaking so Ive blocked it off. Once I get my ODBII upgrade done I want to get an 00+ plenum which IMHO has a much better EGR desgin than the pre 00 plenums do. A penny and JBWeld on the plenum and then just cut the egr tube down to the bolt and filled it in with a MIG welder. Its ghetto but it works 8)

Kalgorn
Completely stock. Lowest I've ever seen was 14mpg and best I've ever seen was 17mpg. Probably around 17-18mpg now that I drive to and from school on a highway. I've got a heavy foot too.
