Heza
ok...so i pulled the upper intake plenum and front cam cover off of my '96 to send to DykZ34 to polish. however, in the upper intake plenum there was a noticeable amount of oil just sitting there. what the hell would cause this? im almost partially worried about it. WhiteOut
Are you sure its oil and not just carbon deposits in the intake? Unless you have monstrosterous amounts of blow by its unlikely to be oil, even then thats really odd.

DaveFromColorado
too much blowby arround the rings, causing oil buildup in the pcv system pushing the oil up into the intake manifold. (that's the typical cause) or it just could be a bad pcv valve causing oil to slip past and into the intake. --Dave.

DaveFromColorado
if it's a fresh motor, the rings may not have seated yet. you can make a little catch can (I did) by using a bottle with a long stem, and a short stem, so it looks something like ... that'll keep the oil outta your intake. --Dave

DaveFromColorado
.. long road trips also seem to cause more blowby then normal ... --Dave.

94CutlassSLCoupe
You may have an internal vaccum leak through the intake gasket, where it sucks oil through the lower intake gasket...if the intake gasket isn't fresh I would change it just to be safe
