kmskje
We have a 95 cutlass and we're having some issues with installing the new stereo (pioneer deh-1600). We have the AI GM-K420 (the one with the pocket on the bottom) mounting kit from Best Buy, and they refuse to help us. Bastards. :x Our problem is that the mounting kit came with two separate snap in face rings (?) and neither fit. It fits if we do not use those rings, but there is an ugly ass gap around it. It almost looks like it is sunken in. Is there something that I'm missing? Has anyone had this problem or know how to make it work? Thanks

Thanks here is a pic that was taken about a year ago when I had put an aftermarket deck in my '97 cutty.....the pic is bad but it shows you what the mounting kit looked like.... zachz34
iirc... you mount the cage in the kit, and slide the deck in WITH the decks trim ring. THAT should fill in the gap. Either that, or you can take the trim ring that came with the stereo off, and use the rings that were included with the dash kit. I cant, for the life of me, remember everythign that comes in that dash kit. I used that kit on and off for a couple of years at my old job. zachz34
Ok. I searched the net, and found pictures of the kit. Remove the trim ring that came with the radio, and it should fit then. The black trim ring that came with the dash kit is the one that you will use. Mount the ring in the kit. Slide the deck in. Push trim ring 'into' the kit, and make sure it snaps in. that SHOULD be it.
Dannymik
that should work my friend, you have to smarter than the damn kit
kmskje
Thanks guys for the information. Best Buy just looks at me like I'm an idiot, like a girl can't work on her own car. :?
THe_DeTAiL3R
I used a Scorse(sp??) kit that they sell at walmart and Canadian tire.. was very easy to install on my GP. From the pics of the Cutty it looks slightly more involved, but TAKE YOUR TIME and read the directions carefully and it should fit perfectly. DiscoStudd
I have the same kit in my 95 Regal and I didn't use the supplied rings with my Pioneer DEH-P7600. I kept the radio's trim in place and mounted it inside the "pocket." Here, check it out:
