Can i just spray the cleaner into that? Quote
maybe2fast Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 thats your mass air flow sensor! on the top unplug it and take it out then go ahead a clean it... Quote
HokemBokem Posted October 1, 2004 Author Report Posted October 1, 2004 what if you clean it while its in there? Quote
99RegalGS Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 That's the screen in front of the MAF, not the MAF itself. The screens purpose is to straighten out the air before the MAF for a more accurate reading. There is a big C clip holding it it. This is what the TB looks with the screen taken out. That little hole is where the MAF sensor is. You probably should take it out before you clean it. Quote
cryptnix Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 you can actually take that out in fact if you really want it out of there shove a damn screw driver in it and get it out of there... (helps with flow) less restriction. and, personally yea i would remove the MAF sensor or any sensor that wouldn't like to get wet. Quote

WhiteOut Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 The screen both straigtens air flow and acts as a flame arrestor. 3800's have a major issue with back firing when the engine is shut down and since its a straight shot to the paper air filter they put a flame arrestor on the TB. You should be able to ammcomplish the TB cleaning just fine with it in place. Quote
HokemBokem Posted October 1, 2004 Author Report Posted October 1, 2004 http://www.zzperformance.com/zzp/free_mods/TB_Screen_Removal.htm Look what i just found, it says at the bottom that it makes some cars rough at idle so im not fuckin with that :read: Quote
sl3196 Posted October 2, 2004 Report Posted October 2, 2004 FWIW: I took the one on my GTP out and have no problems. You can take it out and if it gives ya problems put it back in. Quote
