jjs316 Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 My timinmg belt broke a while back and its finally fixed now. But it has had a real big loss of power and take off. it seems that when you push the gas tot ake off. it doesnt seem that the engine even starts to kick in until about 4000 RPMs. What could this be? I believe the engine has a vaccum leak, could this be the problem? Quote
maybe2fast Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 the 3.4 is an interference motor! I hope you didn't bend any valves! Quote
White93z34 Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 no don, the 3.4 is non interferance, at least the 93' is. i believe some 95' and i think all 96' 3.4s were though. Quote
maybe2fast Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 then it sounds like the timing is set wrong Quote
excelsior Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 sounds like something similar w/ a tbird i test drove......my mechanic said it would have cost around $500-$600 to fix IF they guessed right on the problem....mostly labor intensive and alot of it diagnostics. Quote
rudefyet Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 sounds like the timing is off at first glance but to cover other areas... any noise in the top end? also you said it may be vacuum....listen closely for any hissing sounds Quote
