MommyTaz022200 Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 A kit to put rear defrost in my car. I don't want to swap out my back window, I just want to put the lines and wiring on mine and hook it up to the heater defroster switch, like it would be had my car come with it. Quote
supreme_style21 Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 JCWhitney I believe has them. I can look at work tomorrow and see if I can dig up something as well. Quote
DaveFromColorado Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 it'd probably be cheapest to just get a rear-window with the defroster grid already in place. --Dave. Quote
phantomshado Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 your car came without a rear defroster? wow. I never ever thought that was possible. wacky gm. Quote
DaveFromColorado Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 I've only owned 3 cars without a rear defroster, and I've always picked up a pair of electric heaters to blow on the rear window and that's ALWAYS worked well for me - I was just thinkin' bout that before I catch some sleep this morning. --Dave. Guest Anonymous Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 JC Whitney does have them. My buddy put the kit on his Blazer. Worked good and never had problems with it. Quote
midnight rider Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 That electric heater idea doesn't sound all that bad. If it were wired right and they were mounted in decent could be a neat mod... Quote

I just pointed the center vents straight back, cranked the fan, and it kept the window clear. It took a bit longer to clear the window up, but it worked alright... I say go with the JC "Shitney" defroster. It probably won't look factory exact, but it would be a hell of a lot easier to install than changing out the rear window! Quote
MommyTaz022200 Posted September 23, 2004 Author Report Posted September 23, 2004 Is this it? How many lines are are there suppose to be on the back window? http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductDisplay/s-10101/p-8718/c-10101 Quote
Baddflash Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 I think there's 12 but it could be 9, I'm too lazy to go look right now. sorry. Quote
DiscoStudd Posted September 24, 2004 Report Posted September 24, 2004 I counted 13 on my Regal's back window, and I think it might be a bit shorter than the rest of the W-Bodies' windows. I would imagine if you purchased the 12-line defroster and centered it on the window the best you can, it'd work out alright. The 16 might be too much unless it will function with a couple of the "lines" cut off. $48 sounds like too good a deal to pass up! Quote
DiscoStudd Posted September 25, 2004 Report Posted September 25, 2004 Just wanted to add to this, I counted the # of gridlines on my wife's Loomie (with the huge bubble window) today and it has 17 total... Quote
