Carotop
Alright I wanna do a custom 3 inch exhaust and I kinda wanna keep to sound down so it seems stock and I'm wondering what exactly I need to do for the job and to keep the noise down
TeeJay3800
Alright I wanna do a custom 3 inch exhaust and I kinda wanna keep to sound down so it seems stock and I'm wondering what exactly I need to do for the job and to keep the noise down 3" is way too large for a stock (or even modded) V6. You will loose so much low-end torque, whatever top-end benefits you see will not outweigh the loss.
Carotop
how bout 2.5 or a really restrictive cat huh huh?
TeeJay3800
2.5" would be good if you have a 3.4 DOHC which is all about high-rpm HP. If you have a pushrod motor, personally I would recommend 2.25".
Carotop
Yah all I got is the 3.1 so alright 2.25 it is and how bout sound is that gonna make it just a little different or alot louder?
TeeJay3800
2.25" is stock so the new piping alone won't make it louder. If you use mandrel bent piping that would definitely help flow. Personally, I like Flowmaster mufflers, but any high-flow muff will work. You can run without a cat, but I'd recommend a resonator then to keep the sound tuned.
gp90se
since ya wont be modding the car much, id say 2.25 mandrel bent or 2 1/2 regular bent pipes.
Carotop
What do ya mean I won't be modding it much? Well so 2.25 I will probbaly do then and that will help flow throughout cuz I just got a new cold air intake and I probably will be machining the plenum out some or swapping it with one from a Berretta

93CutlassSupreme
any auto parts store will have short lengths of pipe. for pipe over about 3 feet you'll have to get it from a muffler shop.
